How it works

How individuals and their circles turn trusted relationships into a qualified support team.

You already know the people who understand and care about the individual. MyCircle helps you identify potential team members, complete the qualification and employment process, coordinate authorized services, and support the team over time.

  1. 01

Tell us about the individual's support needs

Begin with a conversation about the individual, the support currently being provided, the responsibilities currently carried by their circle, and where additional structure or professional support may help.

    • Individual, family, or authorized representativeDescribes the current support arrangement, shares routines and support needs, explains what is working, identifies coverage gaps and existing trusted relationships.
    • MyCircleExplains the SLS process, identifies the information needed, helps distinguish SLS, IHSS, and unpaid support, and explains candidate and employment requirements.
  2. 02

    Identify the people you trust

The individual and their circle may already know relatives, friends, neighbors, former support workers, or community members who understand the individual and may become strong Direct Support Professionals.

    • Individual & circleIdentifies possible team members, explains why each may be a good fit, and identifies scheduling availability and needs.
    • MyCircleIntroduces candidate requirements, answers employment questions, invites appropriate candidates to apply, and identifies areas where additional recruitment may be required.
  3. 03

    Qualify and prepare the team

Every candidate must satisfy applicable requirements before providing paid services.

    • CandidatesApply and interview, complete background clearance, provide references and employment information, complete CPR/First Aid and required training, and complete MyCircle onboarding.
    • MyCircleScreens and evaluates candidates, coordinates training, determines employment eligibility, and documents completion.

A referral from the individual's circle does not guarantee employment, paid hours, authorization, a particular schedule, or a particular assignment.

  4. 04

    Coordinate assessment and authorization

MyCircle works with the applicable Planning Team to understand assessed needs and develop the proposed support arrangement.

    • Individual, family, guardian, conservator, or authorized representativeShares relevant knowledge and participates according to the applicable legal arrangement.
    • MyCircleParticipates in assessment, proposes staffing and schedules, and documents the proposed support approach.
    • Regional Center & Planning TeamReview assessed needs, determine eligibility, and determine authorized services and hours.
  5. 05

Build and launch the support team

Once qualifications and authorizations are complete, MyCircle connects approved team members with the authorized schedule.

    • MyCircle providesEmployment onboarding, payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, documentation tools, training, supervision, billing, and compliance support.
    • Circle helpsShare practical knowledge, help Direct Support Professionals learn successful routines, and communicate emerging needs.
  6. 06

    Support the Direct Support Professionals

MyCircle continues supporting Direct Support Professionals and the individual's circle with supervision, training, documentation, communication, and problem-solving after services begin.

  7. 07

    Strengthen and expand the team

When schedules or needs change, the individual's circle and MyCircle can identify additional trusted candidates or determine whether MyCircle-recruited employees are needed.

  8. 08

    Adjust as needs change
